The 1250mm cold bending mill production line at the steel plant is an automated production line with 1250mm as its key specification parameter (i.e., the maximum width of the raw steel strip). It resembles a precision steel forming factory, skillfully processing hot-rolled or cold-rolled steel strips into various types of profiles through continuous cold bending. This production line consists of multiple closely coordinated mechanisms, including a feeding and uncoiling unit, a leveling and shearing unit, a cold bending forming unit, a length-setting and cutting unit, and a control system. Its core principle is to utilize the progressive plastic deformation of multiple rolls to gradually bend the 1250mm wide steel strip into a predetermined cross-section profile at room temperature. The entire process relies on an automated control system to achieve speed synchronization, precise dimensional control, and real-time quality monitoring among various components, ensuring that every profile meets high-quality standards.
 
Upgrading is Urgent: The "Growing Pains" of the Old Production Line
However, with constantly changing market demands and increasingly faster production pace, the old 1250 cold bending machine production line has gradually exposed numerous problems. The rolling mill machinery has aged due to long-term use, the frequency converter power is undersized, and it uses an open-loop control mode, controlling system speed only through 485RTU communication. These problems result in sluggish mechanical equipment response during production, and inconsistent speed synchronization on the various output shafts of the rolling mill. Workers have to frequently and repeatedly fine-tune the speed coefficients between the various drive shafts to barely maintain speed synchronization. This not only greatly increases the labor intensity of workers but also seriously affects the speed, output, and product quality of the entire cold bending machine production line, making upgrading and transformation urgent.

V&T V9-H Series Variable Frequency Drive Controller: The "Key" to Upgrade and Transformation
To better adapt to market changes and enhance the overall capacity of the cold bending machine production line, a speed-up transformation of the rolling mill mechanism was officially launched. In this transformation, the V&T V9-H vfd motor controller played a crucial role.
 
Mechanically, a comprehensive and meticulous inspection and precise adjustment were carried out on all motors, gearboxes, and drive shafts of the rolling mill. Simultaneously, encoders were added to the motors, and a closed-loop control method was adopted, effectively improving the motor's response performance and laying a solid mechanical foundation for the speed-up transformation of the production line.
 
The electrical components introduced modern intelligent control equipment such as touch screens, PLCs, and V&T V9-H vfd. After a series of upgrades, the new cold bending machine production line has been revitalized. Production speed has increased dramatically from the original 3 meters per minute to approximately 13.5 meters per minute, achieving a double leap in both speed and efficiency.
